Samsung Galaxy W Specs and Price [Official]

There are quite a rumors about a 7-inch Smartphone from the Samsung Company, but there was never a credible information and now Samsung has made it official about the 7-inch Smartphone dubbed as Samsung Galaxy W which is available for SK Telecom in Korea. Taking into consideration, the Korean manufacturer’s history with large Smartphones like Mega 6.3 which has a 6.3 inch screen, the Galaxy W is really broken the record of Mega 6.3 with its 7-inch screen and also appears a crossover between a Smartphone and tablet.

The Galaxy W comes into the category of Phablets that are capable of supporting a Single-handed use (more or less) and Phone calls. Samsung assures a less finger strain with the device unlike the other mammoth devices in the market. The device is capable of running the Home screen in Landscape mode which is more of a Tablet feature, but it is due to the mammoth screen size, that the Company offered a Landscape mode. The device doesn’t come with a plethora of features, it comes with a HD 720p display while most devices offer a Full HD 1080p display these days.

The hardware section seems quite dull with a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU (unspecified chipset), and 1.5 GB of RAM. The Galaxy W comes with 16 GB onboard storage with the option to expand it upto 64 GB via the microSD card slot. The device hosts a 8 MP rear camera and runs on the Android 4.3 JellyBean OS. Most of the Samsung devices launched recently came with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box and many devices received their KitKat update. It is pointless to launch a device with JellyBean OS now, but hope Samsung upgrades it sooner.

The device sports a 3500 mAh battery which can smoothly run the device without running of steam in the middle of the day. The device weighs 245 gms, which is a bit heavy but considering its gigantic size, it is not that bad. The Smartphone also supports the high speed LTE-A network. Samsung Galaxy W seems to be available only in Korea and there is no word on its availability globally. The device is priced at 499,400 won under off-contract in Korea which equals to $489 which is certainly not the most costly device from Samsung.
