Samsung Galaxy S7 sales reach 55 million

Samsung’s growth trajectory is on an upward swing as evident not only from the Galaxy S8 series success but also from 55 million sales of its last year flagship smartphone Galaxy S7. Predecessor to Galaxy S8, the total sales of Galaxy S7 has reached the 55 million mark as of the first quarter this year, as per Strategic Analytics data.

The data further revealed that in Q1 alone, that is during the January-March period, the combined sales of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge reached 7.2 million. The gap in between the recalling of Galaxy Note 7 and the release of Galaxy S8 triggered the sales of S7 and S7 Edge, as users had no other option in Samsung’s flagship line.

Samsung had released Galaxy Note 7 during mid-2016 after the launch of flagship phones Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Although Note 7 registered huge initial success, the fiasco a few months later caused by inconsistent battery size forced Samsung to stop the Note 7 production and even recall the ones in the market. The next flagship product released by Samsung was in March this year. Thus, the gap period from the later half of 2016 till March 2017 was filled up by the sales of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

In Q1 2017, Samsung sold 80 million units of smartphones which account for 86 percent. At the same time, the total number of handsets sold during the same period by Samsung stood at 92.8 million units, Strategic Analytics data showed adding that the company occupied 23 percent of the global smartphone market.

  1. It’s really a great phone even after the launch of S8.

    1. Its the goto phone for the people who don’t like the design of the S8 Or want an S series for a slightly low price as its about 40k for the S7 but not available much.

  2. The sales of the S7 might have slightly reduced as some people who would’ve been waiting to buy it around november wouldn’t have bought it due to that whole issue of exploding phones and giving a huge hit on Samsung’s reputation but like said in the article the buyers of the Note 7 would’ve simply chosen the S series instead.

  3. After Note 7 going up in flames, Samsung’s only product in the premium offering was the S7 and S7 edge. They have pushed it everywhere with aggressive marketing hoping to cover the void left by note 7 and this proves that, for the most part it has worked.
People are still buying S7 and that’s really great. Also tells us how amazing that phone is to be still sought after. (:

  4. Following the S8’s launch the price of it’s predecessor is dropping like crazy day by day and thanks to different carriers and online stores coming with some awesome offers to back that discount this is the best time to buy S7 edge!! I think the reason why people still buying S7 edge over S8 will be the less price(obvious), not much change in cameras, 18.5:9 screen ratio not common yet and the performance improvements in the processors r not that of a bigger deal, u won’t even notice the performance difference betn SD821 and SD835 in day to day use, all thhis reasons makes S7 edge still a best buy for the price!!
