Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Specs might include Exynos 5210 quad-core processor

A new SoC in Samsung’s Exynos series has been discovered going by the model name Exynos 5210, and speculation is rife that this new chipset could be seen powering the Galaxy S4 Mini, which was recently seen in leaked pictures.

There’s no indication of whether this will be a quad-core or dual-core chipset, though Sammobile speculates that it could be the former in the big.LITTLE arrangement – two higher power cores for intensive tasks and two low power ones for general tasks. The Galaxy S4’s Exynos Octa 5410 also sports the big.LITTLE architecture, placing four high power and four low power cores on a single chip, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Samsung has decided to implement the same tech on processors with lesser cores for use in their non-flagship smartphones.

The Galaxy S4 Mini was earlier rumoured to be running on a dual-core processor, so it is entirely possible that the Exynos 5210 may have only two cores, or that Samsung may not be using it in the S4 Mini. The Galaxy S3 Mini used a pretty low-end dual-core processor compared to the Galaxy S3, but maybe this time Samsung won’t be so lazy and the S4 Mini won’t be such a huge downgrade from its beastly larger version.

It is quite early to come to a conclusion right now though, so we’ll just have to wait and see what this Exynos 5210 chipset turns out to be, and whether it powers the Galaxy S4 Mini or some other device down the line.
