Forget all the mock-up and prototype images you’ve seen of the Samsung Galaxy S4 so far, it is time to feast your eyes on the first real pictures of the Galaxy S4 – or at least the dual SIM Chinese variant with model number GT-I9502 (the international one is GT-I9500), found on a Chinese forum that claims that this is the real deal.
Yes, the first thing that comes to mind is that Samsung has simply elongated the Galaxy S3 to fit in a larger 5-inch display while leaving everything else as it is, but since Samsung used various prototype designs to hide the final design of the Galaxy S3, we can expect it to be the case this time as well. This could very well be a hoax, though with the images showing the benchmark scores and details of the phone’s hardware (via the AnTuTu benchmark app) as well as Android’s in-built “About phone” info, it is a bit hard to dismiss it as fake unless it is a really elaborate hoax.
Some of the specs of the device confirmed from the leaked images include the Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU, 2GB of RAM, and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. The screen resolution is also seen to be 1080 x 1920 pixels, though it’s hard to confirm from the display seen in the images whether that’s actually the case (not to mention it’s hard to discern a 720p and 1080p display on a 5-inch screen anyway).
Take what you will from this – in my opinion the software seen running in the images might actually be real, while the hardware design is (hopefully) a prototype as I earlier mentioned. There’s only three days left before Samsung officially introduces us to the Galaxy S4, and we’ll see what’s real and what’s fake very soon.
