Samsung Galaxy Premier Specs, Price and Colors find the rumor mill again

The Samsung Galaxy Premier GT- I9260, has cropped up in all the usual places that mysterious devices frequent- AnTuTu, GLBenchmark, and of course, a smattering of other sources which threw up a multitude of confusing specs. It was, and is still, believed that the Galaxy Premier is the upgraded version of  the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and Samsung’s model numbering sequence sure seems to indicate that possibility.

After lying low for a few days, letting the T-Mobile leaks and speculations about what Google is likely to announce on October 29th, the Galaxy Premier has shown up once again to stir up interest around it. But this time around, it is none other than Sammobile, which can be arguably considered as one of the better sources for all things Samsung.

Sammobile has published all the specs for the Samsung Galaxy Premier GT-I9260 through its Twitter account. What is interesting, as well as confusing though, is that Sammobile is now calling the premier a mid-end Android device, which seems a bit strange considering the base phone – Galaxy Nexus was, and still is considered to be a high-end phone. Maybe not as high-end anymore in specs as the Galaxy S3 or the LG Optimus G, but a premium device nevertheless. Sammobile further states that the device will come in 2 colours – White and Blue – similar to the Galaxy S3, and will be available come December, priced at €400.

Lets move on the check out the specs quoted from the Sammobile website, for another surprise:

While everything else, right from the screen size, to the processor clock speed, camera specs as well as the fact that it would be running Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, are in line with the progression from the GNex, what strikes us as alarmingly odd is the mention of a 480 x 800 WVGA sAMOLED+ displayGiven that the power Samsung is packing into the insides of the I9260, exceeds that of the Galaxy Nexus, why would they want to throw in what can be safely called a screen not befitting of a device with such specs,  and more importantly, not befitting of a device which is supposedly an upgrade to one of the best Nexus phones ever released by Google. The minimum that would be expected is a 720p display like on the original.

As has been the case with the Galaxy Premier, it continues to remain a mystery, and looks like Samsung prefers to keep it that way too, at least for now. We can  only hope that the WVGA display is nothing else but either an error, or a harmless prank. But you can be sure, that the Galaxy Premier will show up many times again and stir up our interest, before it is finally presented in its true avatar.

What are your thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy Premier? Is it for real?
