Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to launch in March, compete with iPad Mini on price [Rumor]

It would take someone extremely delusional to believe that Samsung doesn’t like to take a dig at Apple and its devices every chance they get, including releasing competing devices like the extremely popular Galaxy S series of smartphones. With the Galaxy Note 8.0, details of which leaked out in the past, Samsung is looking to take on the iPad Mini, which in turn was Apple’s answer to the Nexus 7 and other 7-inch tablets.

Now, the latest rumor suggests that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy Note 8.0 in Europe in March and that it will be priced to directly compete with the iPad Mini. We already know that the Galaxy Note 8.0 is to be unveiled at the MWC this month, so a release in March would be in line with Samsung’s policy of keeping minimum time between a device’s announcement and market launch.

If the pricing of the Note 8.0 can be around the same as the iPad Mini, it would certainly make the 8-inch Note a clear choice when it comes to the specs – which include things like the 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 2GB RAM, the S Pen stylus, and the more versatile and functional OS that is Android; couple that with Samsung’s aggressive marketing and Apple might see people option for the Note over the iPad Mini.

Moreover, if Samsung can succeed on pricing the 3G-enabled variant close to the Wi-Fi-only iPad Mini, that will seal the deal even more in favour of the Galaxy Note 8.0. However, for app buffs and those who think a good ecosystem is worth more than a desirable spec sheet, the iPad Mini may still remain at the top of the list and we may not see Samsung making too much of a dent on the iPad Mini sales.

MWC is just over a week away from happening, so we can expect to see if these rumors turn out to be true or not very soon, and also get some information on its pricing and availability.
