Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and A5 2016 get February security patch update

Samsung is rolling out a new firmware update to two of its devices- the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy A5 2016. The new update installs the latest February monthly security patch in both the devices.

For Galaxy Note 4, the security update arrives as build N910HXXS2DQBA while the update with build number A510MUBS3BQB2 is currently being received by Galaxy A5 2016 handsets. Other than the monthly security patch, the update brings along with it the usual minor bug fixes and system enhancements.

The update being rolled out over the air (OTA) as we speak should hit your devices anytime soon. In case, you are too impatient to wait for it, you can check it out manually by heading over to Settings » About device » System Updates. However, before hitting the download button, ensure that your device is over 50 percent charged and connected to a Wi-Fi network.

The Galaxy A5 2016 was launched in 2015 with Android Lollipop 5.1.1 OS on board which was later upgraded to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The Nougat update for the device has already gone under testing and a stable build should arrive anytime soon.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 4, which was released in 2014 with Android KitKat 4.4.4 version has been bumped upto Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Going by the age of the device, chances of it receiving the Android Nougat update are very slim. However, its successor, Galaxy Note 5, has been certified for Android 7.0 Nougat update by various certification agencies.
