Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2 GT-I9260 may have 8MP camera

Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2 GT-I9260 Camera shot

The Samsung GT-I9260 which is rumoured to be the next Nexus phone from Samsung with the name Galaxy Nexus 2 has shown up again on Picasa web with a sample picture taken from an 8MP camera.

The EXIF data pulled from the picture reveals that the resolution of the image is 2448 x 3264 and device’s Model number is GT-I9260. One important thing to note is the device is running on firmware version I9260XXALJ1. It’s the same firmware that was outed officially by Samsung for the Galaxy Note 2 and is based on Android 4.1.1. So clearly the GT-I9260 is not already running an Android 4.2 build which we are already seeing running on a few rumored Nexus devices from Motorola and LG. What could it mean? Has Samsung not gotten the Android 4.2 testing build yet or the GT-I9260 is not even a Nexus?

BTW, only 8 days ago a sample picture on picasa revealed that the Galaxy Nexus 2 will have a camera module of 5MP only. And today it’s 8MP. And only 8 days have passed. Should we trust these camera shots that appear on Picasa?

  1. I saw some articles that next version of android 4.2 is fake rumor, they are not planning release 4.2 yet. So could be those are really from Nexus 2. I’m keen to believe that Nexus would have 8MP rather then 5MP camera
