Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 makes it to WiFi Alliance, should release soon

The 2017 version of the Galaxy J5 from Samsung is itching to get released soon as the smartphone has now shown its face at WiFi Alliance for certification. In fact there are six variants of the Galaxy J5 which showed up for certification.

The model numbers of the Galaxy J5 2017 are as follows: SM-J530GM,  SM-J530GM/DS, SM-J530F, SM-J530F/DS, SM-J530GM, SM-J530G and SM-J530G/DS. The variants with the DS suffix will feature dual sim compatibility.

All of these variants are particular to South American and Asian countries mainly. The smartphone is yet to be certified for US soil. But considering the pace at which the J5 2017 is moving at, we can be sure that it will be launched pretty soon.

The only caveat with the launch of the Galaxy J5 2017 is that it will be shipping with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. This just goes on to show Samsung’s lackluster attitude towards its customers. It’s high time for Samsung to borrow a leaf from Huawei’s book and get cracking on updating its devices, be it old or new, to Nougat.
