Samsung Galaxy J5 2016, J2 Prime and Galaxy C5 receive March security update

After rolling out the March security update to Galaxy A9 units in China just yesterday, Samsung has turned its attention towards three more devices- Galaxy J5 2016, J2 Prime and Galaxy C5. These three smartphones are receiving a new firmware update which installs the latest monthly security patch on them.

It’s great to find that Samsung is still taking care of even a budget segment device like the Galaxy J2 Prime which is receiving the update as build number G532GDDU1AQC2. The update comes with March security patch. The Marshmallow based device got launched in a new market, Bangladesh last month after making its debut in November last year with mid-range specs.

The other Samsung device getting the March security patch update is Galaxy J5 2016 which is being rolled out as build number J510MNUBU2AQC1. On the other hand, the update is hitting out at Galaxy C5 units as build C5000ZCU1AQC1.

Samsung is pushing the new firmware update to the three devices over the air. As such, it might take some time to arrive on your handset. If you want to check for it manually, you can do so. Go to Settings > About device > System update. Another recommendation is to get your handsets at least 50 percent charged and connected to a WiFi network before hitting the download button.

Samsung might be facing many new rivals which have done enough to damage its monopoly in the smartphone segment, but what still sets it apart from the likes of Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi and Lenovo, is the release of timely updates.
