Galaxy A9 Pro update: April security patch seeding as version A910FUBU1AQC2

The Galaxy A9 Pro falls into the phablet category with its giant 6-inch screen. But then again, you would have guessed it already with the Pro moniker. In terms of performance this device is monstrous, but still it has its distance from being dubbed as a flagship model.

Launched with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on board, the A9 Pro users are yet to see a big upgrade arrive as an OTA on their device. We’re still waiting from Samsung to see any update on the A9 Nougat build — you know, there has been good indication that for the 2016 edition of Galaxy A3, A5 and A7, the Samsung Nougat update has finished testing internally at Samsung.

Galaxy A9 Pro Nougat update: Expected release date

The smartphone was released in May of 2016 and came with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. It’s very well capable of running Nougat, and is in contention to receive the Nougat update too, so that only question that remains is: when will Samsung release the update?

We think it will definitely get Nougat, albeit a bit later than usual. For what it’s worth, Samsung has been pretty active with A9 Pro updates, having released the security patches regularly.

Even though Samsung’s Nougat update roadmap doesn’t specifically mentions Galaxy A9 Pro, we think it would receive the Android 7.0 update about the same time as other 2016 A-series sets like A3, A5 and A7 — all of which are slated for release in May 2017.

We may even get to see Android O release on the Galaxy A9 Pro, btw, but about 14 months from today.

Expected Release Date: May 2017.
