Samsung announces 128GB SD card with transfer speeds upto 140MB/s

While manufactures have been moving towards no-expandable memory card slot trend, Samsung is putting efforts in making advanced technology memory cards with even higher speeds and greater storage capacity for mobile devices. And it sure is always better to have an expandable memory card slot on your mobile device, regardless of all the cloud storage you’ve got on the internet.

At Sumsung Mobile Solutions Forum 2012 today, Sammy announced a 128GB eMMC storage beef that has transfer speeds of upto 140MB/s and is based on JEDEC eMMC v4.5 specification. The new eMMC uses NAND with a toggle DDR 2.0 interface combined with 20nm class process technology.

We heard rumors of Galaxy S4 releasing in March 2013 yesterday, do you think the latest and greatest Samsung Galaxy phone — the Galaxy S4 — is going to support expandable memory with storage capacity of upto 128GB? The Galaxy S3 surprised us with support of upto 64GB SD card. What do you say?

  1. True, the Samsung Galazy SIII supports add-in memory of up to 64 GBytes, but it has to be in MICRO-SD form, not just an “SD” memory card! Do you think Sammy will produce this amount of memory in a MicroSD form factor?

  3. I think it’s going to support it. I think that means it’ll max out at 192GB (64GB internal+128GB microSD). And it’ll be running Key Lime Pie, and it’ll be 4.9″ or 5.0″. That phone is going to ROCK!
