Samsung aims to sell 18 million Galaxy S8 devices in the first 3 months of launch

Running high on confidence, Samsung has set a target of selling at least 18 million units of its recently launched flagship smartphone Galaxy S8 within a period of 3 months of its launch. This is double the number of Galaxy S7 sold last year in the first 3 months launch period.

As per a report from Korea, Samsung has set the initial volume of the Galaxy S8 sales to reach 18 million units during the period from March to May. This is 50 percent more than the previous Galaxy S7 series which sold 12 million units in 3 months.

However, in February the three-month (March-May) sales was estimated to be 16 million units for Galaxy S8 series which has been revised to 18 million units owing to the positive reaction of distributors during the pre-launch period.

Samsung is targeting to sell around 58 million Galaxy S8 series units from March till December. This is 8 million units higher than the internally estimated sales volume of about 50 million units.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 series is expected to be highly successful even if it sold 50 million units this year. Last year, about 49 million Galaxy S7 series were sold. However, the sales period was more than a month longer than the Galaxy S8 series. In addition, the Galaxy S7 Edge model was selected as a discontinued Galaxy Note 7 exchange model.
