The Samsung A500 has been making constant appearance in the news recently and is termed to as another metallic mid-ranger from Samsung. Although many speculations have been made regarding this device but the real specs and looks of the device are now listed on the Chinese website TENAA. However, the listing shows the specs are related to a device named Galaxy SM-A5000 which is a bit confusing at this point but we really believe that the device is actually the Galaxy A500 as the specs matches the recent leaks.
The leaked images from the TENAA website shows that the device is extremely thin and joins the Galaxy Alpha in the 6.7 mm thickness zone. The Galaxy A500 is rumored to sport a metallic body but the pictures seems to confirm that the device has a metallic frame around the edges. The design of the device is not so appealing and will join the same Samsung Galaxy design line with a fewer modifications. This once again brings to notice that Samsung needs to get out of the boring design that is descending down the Galaxy series and try new designs with their future models as people are expecting more from this Korean manufacturer.
The Phone measures a 6.7 mm thickness with over all measurements as 139.3×67.7×6.7 mm and weighs 126 grams. The device sports a 5-inch 720p AMOLED display which will be great considering Samsung’s quality with the displays. A 13 MP shooter at the back of the device should offer more than decent pictures but we have to wait until release to pass the final judgement. The 5 MP front camera should easily suffice the social networking and selfie needs. Coming to the storage, the device offers a 16 GB onboard storage with the capacity to extend it up to 128 GB through SDcard.
With a Snapdragon 400 processor and a 2 GB RAM coupled to it, we expect the device to fall in the mid-range devices category. Running on the latest iteration of the Android 4.4.4 KitKat version, the device is rumored to offer a similar user experience as the Galaxy Note 4. However there is no word whether the device will receive the Android L update. The device supports LTE connectivity along with 3G and 2G. The whole device is backed with a 2,300 mAh battery which is supposed to deliver decent battery life on the device.
Looking at the device specification and the looks, the device is certainly a mid-ranger. Some of the older models from Samsung like Galaxy S4 has more chances of getting upgraded to Android L and also sport higher resolution and better battery. So is it really worth buying this phone with no promises on upgrading to Android L? What do you guys think?
