How to Root LG G5 on Nougat Android 7.0 Update

The much awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update is finally rolling out to LG G5 users in the Korea. The update was previously given out to select 2,000 users in the country before going live for everyone today.

We know all G5 users worldover would be waiting for the update to hit their devices, some of the courageous ones will even attempt to install the Korean firmware once available to their G5 variants. But if you’re someone like us, you’d also like to make sure if the G5 Nougat is rootable or not?

While the latest SuperSU and Magisk zip fully supports Android 7.0 Nougat builds on Nexuses devices to get root, we can’t assure if the G5 will also be easy to root on Nougat. Although, theoretically, it should definitely support root via SuperSU flash from TWRP recovery.

Anyway, we’re going to post the normal procedure to root an Android 7.0 Nougat device via SuperSU in the instructions below. If you happen to have a LG G5 device running on Android 7.0 Nougat, and you know your way around bootloop and other possible soft-bricks, please do a favor to the community and test LG G5 Nougat root possibilities by following the instructions below.

Note: The instructions below assumes that you’ve TWRP recovery installed on your LG G5.
