Refurbished Note 7 may sell for $300, will have a 3200mAh battery

Just a day after Samsung’s official announcement to sell refurbished Galaxy Note 7, a new leak has emerged suggesting its price and battery capacity. Coming out of China, the leak hints at a $300 price tag for refurbished Note 7 devices which will be sold in the market pretty soon.

The tipster who leaked the news on Chinese mircoblogging site Weibo says that Samsung has reduced the battery capacity of Galaxy Note 7 from 3500 mAh to either 3000 or 3200 mAh. This was something we had already speculated keeping in mind the fact that the Note 7 explosion was caused due to inconsistent battery size. Thus, in a bid to prevent battery from overheating and catching fire, Samsung has decided to reduce the battery capacity.

On the face of it, Samsung’s decision to sell refurbished Note 7 emerges from the huge financial loss it has incurred by last year’s Note 7 fiasco. But the Korean manufacturer has cited another reason behind the decision:

The objective of introducing refurbished devices is solely to reduce and minimize any environmental impact.

This official statement by Samsung was quoted by The Verge which also added that the company might be planning to re-introduce the Note 7 with a different name and slightly new technical specification.

However, Samsung has categorically specified that it will ‘not be offering refurbished Galaxy Note 7 devices for rent or sale in the US.’ To market and sell the refurbished Note 7 devices, Samsung wil collaborate local authorities and carriers.
