The Snapdragon 400 Mobile Platform tier of Qualcomm gets a new entrant in the form of Snapdragon 450. Built on a 14nm process (the first in its tier), the SD 450 replaces the Snapdragon 435 and is catered to power mid-range smartphones and tablets.
The new chipset features eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and is paired with Adreno 506 graphics. It is designed to deliver significant improvements in various spheres over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 435.
The Snapdragon 450 SoC will give 25 percent boost in processing speed over its predecessor SD435 chipset. In addition, it will contribute to up to a 30 percent reduction in power when gaming. It also comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support, which can charge a typical smartphone from zero to 80 percent in about 35 minutes.
It also gets the credit of being the first chipset in the 400-tier to support real-time Bokeh (Live Bokeh) effects. Other enhanced camera features which it supports are dual camera of upto 13+13MP resolution or single camera support up to 21MP,  1080p video capture and playback at up to 60fps, enabling slow motion capture.
The Snapdragon 450  chipset also includes support for 1920×1200 full HD displays. Qualcomm will make it available in consumer devices by the end of 2017.
