PSA: Major video recording bug found on Android N Developer Preview 4

It’s pretty tempting to rock the unreleased version of Android N on your Nexus 6P (or any other compatible device), but that comes with a comprise in the form of unknown issues and bugs because these builds are from stable.

In latest case, it’s been found that Nexus 6P is suffering from another serious bug. If you try to record a video on Android N Developer Preview 4, from an app other than the camera app that comes pre-installed, then the video could be very choppy.

Apps like Facebook, Instagram, Z camera, etc. were unable to record a smooth video while some other third-party camera apps from the play store ran into ‘Force close’ error.

If you use a camera app from play store, then Android N Developer Preview 4 isn’t for you right now. At the moment, Google’s team is looking for a solution on the issue, and when it’s found, it will be released in future as part of Developer Preview 5 or release version of Android N.

Recently, another serious issue was found with the Developer Preview 4 wherein the device would freeze when its RAM was fully used up. Ideally, the device should be clearing the RAM to create space for new activities when it’s nearing full use, but in this case, it will simply freeze out because of little RAM becoming available, and to come out of this terrible situation, you have to restart the device.

When we’re talking bugs, let’s also let you know about the one where you are stuck on Roaming network when running Android N Developer Preview 4.

The above bugs aren’t device-specific, but this one, that throws the device into endless reboots in Developer Preview 4, looks associated with Nexus 5X and Xperia Z3 users. It gets activated when you turn on the Wi-Fi.

Sure, Google has lot of work to do before it release Developer Preview 5 of Android N, what do you say?
