LG Optimus L5 Specs and Release Date

Amidst all the hype of when the Galaxy S3 is launching where, LG has silently announced a release date of its own mid-range device, the LG Optimus L5.

LG says the Optimus L5 would be released in Europe this month, so if you are enjoying your life in UK, Germany or France, where the device will launch first of all other places to follow, you can buy it by the end of the month.

In its second stage, the launch will take place in CIS countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan), Middle East countries, Asia and then later on, Central and South America.

It might not be a Galaxy S3 competitor or that of HTC One X, but there aren’t many devices that get you Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in mid-segment scene. Other specs of LG Optimus L5 include: single-core Qualcomm 800 MHz processor, 4-inch HVGA screen (we would call it average display, something AMOLED would have sounded (and looked) better), 4 GB storage space (Micro SD slot available with support up to 32 GB), 5 megapixel camera at back with LED flash, dimensions: 118.3 x 66.5 x 9.5 mm and 1500 mAh battery.

Moreover, LG Optimus L5 is a dual-sim supporting device, and has NFC chipped inside too. NFC tech allows you to use Android Beam feature in Ice Cream Sandwich, to send the links, contacts info, etc. pretty instantly over to another NFC equipped device. NFC has serious commercial uses too, but it’s still under explored. NFC is a good addition to Optimus L5 — all current high-end devices like Galaxy S3, One X, Galaxy nexus, etc. have it too.

  3. can you printscreen with this phone? Like the iphone. If it can, how? Thank you 🙂

    1. Taking a screenshot is a standard feature on every Andorid 4.0 running device. It should work by pressing the ‘Power + Volume down’ button together.
