Oppo Find 5 headed towards the US. Priced at $499 unlocked!

Can’t believe your eyes, can you? Well, neither could we when we saw this. The awesome looking Oppo Find 5 from China, is definitely headed stateside, and is going to be available at an attractive price of $499 unlocked.

The 5-inch 1080p display touting Android smartphone from China has been a favorite of the rumor mills since it surfaced a couple of months ago. Recently leaked specs revealed pretty much what the official spec sheet above says — 5-inch 1080p display with a PPI of 441, Corning Gorilla Glass 2, Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core CPU, 2 GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on board.

Oppo has set up a U.S website for the Find 5. Nothing much there, except for the specs of the upcoming Oppo Find 5 and the $499 price tag. Since it is GSM-only smartphone, it will be compatible with T-Mobile and AT&T in the U.S. There’s no specific availability date mentioned, but we believe it should be somewhere after December 12th, which has been set for the unveiling event, in its home market – China.

Looks like Oppo has hit the sweet spot with the $499 price tag. The HTC Droid DNA, which is the only other 1080p display phone available in the U.S is a Verizon exclusive, and costs $199 on contract. Other similarly specced devices that the Find 5 will no doubt compete with include the HTC One X+, The LG Nexus 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

It would be interesting to see how the Oppo Find 5 fares in the U.S market. If it looks as good as it did in the promo pics, and with those powerful specs it packs, we have no doubt it will pose stiff competition to the current crop of super phones available in the market.
