Is Oppo F1S Marshmallow update really happening?

While it is no secret that Oppo makes and markets its cameras on its devices rather aggressively, we wish that similar could be said about their software updates. The Chinese giant has a rather unconventional model when it comes to updating their devices. The company prides itself with its state-of-the-art hardware integration whereas the Oppo F1s came out with lollipop around the time Nougat was launched. Ironic indeed.

Although we have our doubts, the popular graphics benchmarking site GFXBench, on their specifications page, have listed the Oppo F1S Operating System with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). We’ve seen countless devices appear with an update at GFXbench first, follwed by actually release, so we fully believe a Marshmallow update is in the preps for Oppo F1S too. But until Oppo comes out on this, nothing is 100% sure.

If the listing is to be believed, Oppo F1S may very well be in line for a Marshmallow update with ColorOS 3.0 integration. The preferred device for the selfie oriented crowd, the F1S provides you with a 5.5inch 720p display, a Mediatek MT6755 SOC, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, 13MP rear camera and a 3075mAh battery. The phone also proudly flaunts a 16MP camera at the front of the device.

All the talk aside, will the F1S get its Marshmallow update?

We’re still not fully sure and Oppo is to be blamed for that. The device maker seems so intent on developing cameras that they forget that a phone is no more than a useless brick if it does not receive constant updates. Maybe it is time for Oppo to set its house in order and provide the users with a device that is aesthetically pleasing and yet reliable.
