Oppo A39 Marshmallow update should release soon, spotted running Android 6.0 on GFXBench

Oppo’s mid-range offering, the Oppo A39 (CPH1605) running Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been spotted paying a visit to GFXBench today. To recall, the smartphone was launched in November last year in Taiwan with Android 5.1 Lollipop onboard. Now, nearly four months after its launch, the company seems to be prepping an update for the smartphone.

The Oppo A39 features a 5.2-inch HD display with a layer of 2.5D curved glass atop. At the heart of the device is an octa-core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 chipset paired with Mali T860 GPU to take care of graphics. It packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage space (up to 256GB) via a microSD card.

The imaging department is taken care of by a 13MP (f/2.2) camera at the back and a 5MP shooter at the front for selfies. There’s a 2,900mAh battery to provide the juice for the handset. As mentioned earlier, during its launch, the smartphone came with Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. However, the latest update which should release soon will take the software version to Marshmallow.

It’d have been great to see the company rolling out the Nougat update to its devices. But, hey there, we are talking about Oppo here. The company that launches plenty of phones every year and somehow comfortably ignores software updates. Nevertheless, we will take whatever we get (the Marshmallow update in this case).
