Only 40% Samsung Galaxy S9 will feature Qualcomm chips

Since last year, Samsung’s relationship with other hardware component suppliers is falling out. Earlier we saw upcoming Galaxy Note 8 won’t feature ATL batteries instead use the batteries manufactured by SDI, similar to S8.

Now a report suggests that less than 40% of next year’s Galaxy S flagship device, Galaxy S9 will feature Qualcomm chip. For those who are not aware, Samsung usually uses Qualcomm chips in the majority of its handset, while the rest of them feature Samsung’s own Exynos chip. However, apparently, most of the S9 will now use Samsung’s own chipset.

And the reason for this fallout seems to be the deal between Qualcomm and TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company). Recently, TSMC won the deal for the 7 –nanometer chip manufactured by Qualcomm, and so in a tit-for-tat manner, Samsung has decided to feature less of Qualcomm components.

The recent rumors suggest that Samsung will be using Y-OCTA display panels for both its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus handsets. Also, S9 could get mod support similar to Moto Z line.
