Understanding OnePlus 3 LED and Notifications Issue

Unable to change the color of LED indicator when charging your OnePlus 3, does it always show blue color? Well, you might understand it as an issue, but it isn’t. It is by design.

The blue LED indicator appears when you’re dash charging your OnePlus 3. Dash charging is rapid charging for OP3 and is only possible when you’re using the USB cable shipped in box with your OP3.

If you use any other cable, you’ll probably find the LED indicator to change color according to what you preset for charging.

As for the notifications, some people are complaining that OP3 doesn’t checks for new notifications from WhatsApp, Facebook and other similar apps in background when untouched for several hours (say 4 or more). Well, it also ain’t an issue.

OnePlus 3 ships with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. And Android 6.0 is designed with doze mode feature that stops background checks for apps when device is inactive for long hours to save battery. This is actually a very good feature that Google believes to boost your device’ battery by 20%.

So, unless it’s absolutely necessary for you to have your OP3 check for new notifications every other second. Just sit back relaxed knowing that your device’ battery juice is being saved by the doze mode. Else, if you want to tinker with that, there might be some aftermarket solutions to change the behavior doze mode, but that will require you to root your OnePlus 3.

  5. Thanks for taking time to write this up. I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out why the heck I wasn’t able to change the LED for when it was charging. I noticed when I choose yellow for example for when it’s charging the colour pops up when I plug in and then changes to blue which was really annoying but your explanation totally makes sense. Cheers
