One Click Root Motorola Atrix

Motorola Atrix users who are rocking Android 2.3.4 thanks to update 4.5.91, can now root their Atrix with much ease. All you need is to download a z.zip file, extract it and run the tool with Atrix connected and recognized.

This one click root is applicable only for Motorola Atrix, running Android 2.3.4 version. Check your Atrix’s android version in settings > About Phone. If it isn’t Android 2.3.4, don’t try it. You may end up bricking your phone.

FOR WINDOWS 7

  1. Make sure you’ve Motorola drivers installed. Connect you Atrix to computer. It should be recognized and if it isn’t, then download and install drivers first. Link: x86 (32 bit) Windows 7/vista; x64 (64 bit) Windows 7/Vista. Connect Atrix after installing drivers, your computer should recognize it now. Otherwise, don’t go ahead to next step here.
  2. Download PetesMotorolaRootTools_v1.06.zip file. Extract it using 7-zip or any other extract tool.
  3. On phone, go to settings > Applications > Development and tick the ‘USB Debugging’ checkbox. Select OK on warning prompt.
  4. On PC, go to folder where you extracted the zip file in step 2.
  5. Run the file named “MotorolaOneClickRoot” — double click on it to run it.
  6. A window will pop up (like the image at top) which will guide you to root process, which is pretty easy now. Just follow the on-screen instructions and your Atrix will soon be rooted.

FOR WINDOWS XP

If possible, use the Windows 7 method given above.

Please try the Windows Vista/7 method first! It will work better for most Windows XP users.
Only use this method if the other has not worked yet.

  1. Your phone must be connected via USB data cable to your computer and recognized.
  2. If your phone is connected, but not recognized, you may need to install one of these software drivers:

  4. Extract the contents of the one-click root package to a new folder on your computer.
  5. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your device. This should be under Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging.
  6. From the new folder on your computer, double-click on Click to root your DROID 3 to begin the root process.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the root process.
