Nvidia Shield Tablet Android 5.0 Update Coming In Nov, 2014

Nvidia has posted a video on YouTube showing the Nvidia Shield tablet running Android 5.0 Lollipop update, and with that the company also confirmed the Android 5.0 update for Shield tablet to be coming as early as this month.

It has never happened in the history of Android that a manufacturer releases an update to latest Android version in the same month when Google announces it. So if Nvidia is able to push out the Lollipop update to Shield tablet in Nov, 2014, then the company is surely going to get lots of praise and love from the Android community in general.

Check out the video below to the shield tablet running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

NVIDIA SHIELD tablet Android 5.0 Lollipop Sneak Peek

The Nvidia Shield Android 5.0 update will also come with a new Nvidia Dabbler app and new Shield Hub app along with all the goodness of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Shield tablet runs on pure Android without any visual customization, so you’ll get the complete Android 5.0 experience on your Shield tablet.

The Nvidia Shield tablet will be the first non-nexus device to receive Android 5.0 update. So far only the HTC Nexus 9 and Motorola Nexus 6 has the Android 5.0 Lollipop and that’s because these devices ship with Android 5.0 baked in out of the box.

Google announced Android 5.0 Lollipop way back in July 2014 as a developer preview named, Android L. And then last month in October, the company released the final Android 5.0 preview image for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013. The build that Nvidia showcased in the video above looks similar to that.

Android 5.0 Lollipop update is about Material design and smooth animations throughout the system. Plus, a host of new features to make your Android devices more secure than ever along with features like always-on encryption, Guest user, bootloader unlock security, etc.
