Nubia Z17 specs leaked via Geekbench listing, carries Snapdragon 835 processor

After launching the ZTE Nubia Z17 Mini, the company seems to be gearing up to launch its premium model. A Nubia handset has been spotted on benchmarking site Geekbench which is likely to be the ZTE Nubia Z17.

Coming from tipster Krispitech, the news was leaked via his Twitter handle. Bearing model number Nubia NX563J, the phone touted to be Nubia Z17 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS, as per the Geekbench listing.

It further reveals that ZTE Nubia Z17 will pack in top of the line Snapdgraon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 1.90GHz. This will be paired with 4GB RAM.

Interestingly, as compared to the mini version of Nubia Z17, while the OS on board the new Nubia phone gets an upgrade (Nubia Z17 mini came with Android Marshmallow), the RAM has been kept equivalent to the lower version of Nubia Z17. ZTE launched Nubia Z17 in two storage options — one with 4GB RAM and the other with 6GB RAM, both paired with 64GB storage. This leads us to believe that if indeed ZTE equips the new Nubia Z17 with 4GB RAM, it should be paired with 64GB storage.

Again, the SoC has received an upgrade from Snapdragon 652 / Snapdragon 653 in Nubia Z17 mini to Snapdragon 835 in the new device. This should ensure enhanced performance. With upgraded software and hardware, in all possibility the Nubia Z17 should also sport rear dual cameras, akin to its predecessor and a rear mounted fingerprint scanner.

ZTE Nubia Z17 Mini, launched early this month, turned out to be a small wonder in the mid-range category. And with the listed Geekbench specs, its successor too seems to carry all the necessary requirements to emerge as a successful device.

  1. so it’s confirm then, from the geekbenck listing it’s sure that Nubia’s next high end flagship will pack the underclocked version of powerful SD835 chip coz the max speed of SD835 is 2.5 GHz or it may be the speed of the second set of quad-Kyro chip in SD835, but one thing for sure it’s going to be SD835 with atleast 4GB of RAM, going by the Nubia’s history 6GB RAM varient also expected as said in the article, hope to see more cool features with it like the Dual camera same as on Z17 mini and Mi Mix like bezel-less display with 2K resolution, 3.5 mm jack of course, 64GB internal min. and a descent selfie shooter as well!

  2. The SD 835 ? That’s a really interesting feature as not many phones have announced having them.ZTE seems to be going all out and releasing really trending and demanded features and that too at different price segments without focusing at one particular segmenr and seem to be making a name for themselves in the market.Really great specs and I’m starting to notice a lot of phones starting to come out with 64gb instead of the old 32gb minimum

    1. thanks to features like 4K recording and high quality graphics, 32GB isn’t enough to record that much video or to have lots of high intensity graphics games and apps, 64GB does the job with nearly 54GB to spare for extra data!!

    2. Interesting ,with all that data people don’t really need an external sd and can easily use the hybrid slim slot without sacrificing much

    3. I thought the s8 had it blocked for everyone else now?

    4. I was pretty surprised too and like vishal said its an underclocked version.I just checked and quite a few phones seem to come with the 835 …like the Mi Mix2 ,Mi 6 and many others..

    5. So basically chinese oems get it but LG cant? Thats depressing.

    6. I think that’s the sacrifice LG had to make to release their phone first. Samsung and SD had a deal I suppose since, with the S8, SD technically launched their new processor too. And they made a big deal about it

    7. Maybe it was for only until Samsung had launched the S8? That would make sense. Like rishab said, quite a few phones have them and they all released after S8

    8. It is funny how that keeps getting obsolete right? A while ago, 32 GB was more than decent and 16Gb was the base. They started complaining about 16GB and eventually that was discontinued. Now 32 GB seems to become obsolete too.

    9. Hmm sad for LG then :/ That means that the new HTC would probably use the 835,doesn’t it?

    10. That’s going to hurt for LG probably… Since people would prefer phones with the 835

    11. Didn’t know…even I checked now.

    12. Yes HTC U 11 definitely will come with the 835.

    13. Sadly, yes. Although it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference in real world use, people will be put off by the older processor and lean towards Samsung.

    14. They probably designed the phone much earlier and ran into production by the time ….and like Ashwin said they did that so that they can sell as many as possible before the S8 seeing how aggressively they’re offering deals and cashbacks.LG is coming with one I think and so are Sony amd Microsoft and many others

    15. Maybe the mini version will come with the 835…I heard the LG V30 comes with it ,but yes most Chinese OEMs like OPO and others are bringing it in with their phones.

    16. That’ll most likely be jusy the techies who get put off by the processor, most people who can afford phones at that price will probably just shoot for the S8 or choose the G6 just for the small price difference and offers.

    17. Moore’s law my friend …. The point where people are satisfied with their device will never come as manufacturers will keep coming up with phones with better ,efficient and more bleeding edge tech.

    18. Lol no news about that yet … Most likely yes but HTC Doesn’t seem to be saying about that and keeps focussing on squeezing everything they can get their hands on in their teasers.

    19. Hope the v30 kicks butt! The v20 didn’t live up to expectations.

    20. Hmm hope it was smart on their part.

    21. Exactly. People never get that real world performance wouldn’t differ by much.

    22. On the contrary, us techies also know that the processor wont make a huge difference. While non-techy people won’t. They will hear “835” and “821” and judge LG for the better or worse.

    23. It will eventually reach a saturation where it wont be feasible anymore for technology to go at a pace it needs to go in while being lucrative. That is still far away though. Lets enjoy this while it lasts. 🙂

    24. Yes HTC is playing this one very close to the chest. They want to hold off people from buying the S8 right away by doing this. Even the most credible rumour sites are sure about the U 11 using the SD835. Although not officially confirmed, it is as good as true. 🙂

    25. It simply can’t for example take the gaming sector, when the graphics are developed to be much more powerful than what’s there ,they produce games demanding the maximum and resolutions get higher slowly,It feels just like yesterday when 1440p was the common thing for gamers now it’s 4k for gamers and 8k for the really rich enthusiasts .When the saturation for one type of tech reaches its max, something newer and advanced comes to replace it and the law is applied to it

    26. The price was too much while the specs were not that satisfactory, lets wait and watch 🙂

    27. We’ll wait and watch 😀 most of my friends simply chose the G6 for their after-exam gift when I asked them instead of ge S8 and mentioned the price as the deciding factor.

    28. Maybe but the people who don’t know much are the people who will blindly trust review sites and as we all know most reviewers over-exaggerate about the smallest issues so that they can compare it to the competition …..So I guess it varies from person to person and not something that can be fixed… :/

    29. What I really want to see is a better and smoother UI and more importantly the build quality of the phone itself. The geekbench results are out and the phone itself is not beating the exynos powered S8 but does come pretty close. The iPhone 8 leaks destroys the S8 if its true almost doubling the single core and higher by around 2000 on multicore.Sorry for straying from the topic a bit XD

    30. I am optimistic about this phone. HTC sense is IMO one of the most matured android skins that exists. It’s very professional looking with neat animations and minimal bloatware. And a powerful theme engine.

    31. The UI is really good since the start from gingerbread to now.It had that proper finish and didn’t have any unnecessary functions. Only problem was after a while of usage the phone starts lagging.

    32. Hmm almost 10k cheaper right?

    33. The V10 was amazing when it came out though.

    34. Rs.40k if you use HDFC and Rs.51000 if you don’t.The S8 is 57900.

    35. hmn, everyones going to need an HDFC card if they want the g6 😀
