Galaxy Note 5 Marshmallow Root

Status: Available
Update (25th Feb, 2015): Thanks to DrKetan over at xda, root is now available via a custom kernel for Note 5 N920C PB6 (Marshmallow) build. Plus, the kernel also fixes deep sleep issue on Marshmallow for rooted users. Check out the rooting instructions below

Samsung is finally releasing the much awaited Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Note 5.

The freshest release of Android began seeding out to Note 5 international variant N920C earlier this morning with firmware build  N920CXXU2BPB6.

The new firmware is already available for download as an Odin flashable file, and OTA update is also being pushed out to N920C users in Cambodia.

For the folks among us concerned about root access on Note 5 Marshmallow update, know that a working root isn’t confirmed yet. But, since N920C is bootloader unlocked device, it won’t be late before we get root on Note 5 Marshmallow release.

Folks over at xda have previously tested root on Samsung’s Marshmallow beta builds with SuperSU (systemless) and custom kernel method, and both have worked pretty fine. So we’re hopeful that rooting Note 5 Marshmallow won’t be a trouble, but we may have to wait for confirmation to what rooting method works best.

We’ll be looking over xda forums and other Android communities for any development on Note 5 Marshmallow root status and update this post accordingly. Stay tuned..
