Not wanting to be left behind Amazon, Barnes and Noble have taken the wraps of the Nook HD+ tablet, which will compete against Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD 8.9″.
The Nook HD+ sports a 9″ display with the high resolution of 1920×1280 which gives it a pixel density of 256ppi, making it a sharp and clear display, also thanks to Barnes and Noble’s new display technology that is brighter and clearer than the competition while being very power efficient as well.
Under the hood, the Nook HD+ is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP4470 processor, 1GB RAM, stereo speakers enhanced with SRS TruMedia audio, and a 6,000 mAh battery that provides up to 10 hours of reading time or 9 hours of HD video playback. In terms of software, the Nook HD+ runs a heavily customized version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, much like what Amazon’s Kindle tablets do.
