The Nokia 3 is one of the new handsets launched by HMD to bring the Nokia brand name back into the spotlight. The Nokia 3 is the entry-level handset of the three, with the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones bearing better specs.
Benchmarks are often run on higher-end, premium Android handsets, but benchmarks for the Nokia 3 have surfaced today, showing the constitution of the handset and what kind of performance one can expect from it. Geekbench is one of the most respected benchmarking apps in the business because, unlike AnTuTu, Geekbench provides a more realistic (though still somewhat relative) look into handsets.
The Nokia 3 scored 546 points in single-core and 1,541 points in multi-core scoring, which doesn’t compare to the beastly Nokia 9 that stopped by Geekbench with its 2,255 points in single-core and 7,770 points in multi-core scoring. The Nokia 5 did slightly better than the Nokia 3 in single-core performance and twice as good in its multi-core performance. Of course, the Nokia 3 isn’t as beastly as the Nokia 9, but placing the device benchmarks in comparison helps one understand how it will perform when compared to a mightier handset.
Now, apart from performance scores, we can see some specs of the device. The Nokia 3 bears the model number TA-1032, the model number that received Bluetooth SIG certification back in March, (matching the TA-1030 model number that passed through the TENAA) and features a 1.25Ghz, quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC with 2GB of RAM running Android 7.0 Nougat. The TA-1030 model number suggests that the variant(s) in mind is for Asian markets.
Despite its humble specs and performance, HMD is betting on it proving popular worldwide with it being slated to get Android 8.0,
Just this past week, the Nokia 3 arrived in Finland, Vietnam and The Philippines, UK, Romania, with a launch in India on June 13th.
