As was already know, Google decided against making an LTE capable version of the LG Nexus 4, citing a “poor user experience” because of reduced battery life and increased production costs (and also not citing some reasons). However, to counter this, the LG Nexus 4 supports HSPA+ speeds of up to 42 Mbps, ensuring that owners of the device will be able to enjoy the next best thing after LTE where possible.
The Play Store page for the LG Nexus 4 has been updated to reflect this, and T-Mobile also announced that their Nexus 4 variant will support their 42 Mbps HSPA+ network, which should dial down some of the negativity that has been leveled at Google for taking a step backward from last year and not putting LTE in their latest and great Nexus smartphone.
