The amount of tech and features that LG and Google have packed into the Nexus 4, for that pleasantly shocking price, is unbelievable. Android 4.2, Quad-core power, 2 GB RAM, wireless charging capability, NFC, Miracast support, and the list goes on. Well, here’s another newly discovered feature to add to the already long list of features.
While the support for Miracast is definitely a great feature to have, let’s be honest in accepting the fact that it involves getting a Miracast enabled box which needs to be attached to your TV, or get a Miracast enabled TV itself, which are not being produced yet. A new feature has been uncovered today, when Analogix Semiconductor, the market leader in enabling DisplayPort solutions,  announced that its DisplayPort adapter is compatible with the Nexus 4′s micro-USB port and allows you to connect an HDMI cable to it — if you’re willing to shell out $30. Eventually DVI, VGA and DisplayPort will also be added to list of output options, eventually making the Nexus 4 charging port into the most versatile micro-USB jack on a smartphone.
SlimPort accessories also provide the option to charge the mobile device when in use on the auxiliary screen. Analogix will be releasing a total of four supporting SlimPort cables and adapters with connectivity through HDMI, VGA, DVI and DisplayPort. The HDMI adapter is already available on Amazon for $29.99 and will soon be rolled out to other parts of the world.
