N4F26I update for Nexus 6P brings January security patch

Seems like Vodafone Australia already has the January security patch update ready for the Nexus 6P with firmware build number N4F26I.

Surprisingly, we’re hearing about the update from an Australian carrier first rather than Google, which is usually the case with updates to Nexus line of devices.

The update will roll over-the-air and is 39MB in size. Based on the information from leaked screenshot, the rollout will be spread over a period of two weeks.

As a general rule, we recommend keeping your phone at-least 50% charged before taking an OTA update and also make sure important data on your phone like contacts, photos, etc are in sync/backed up if in case anything goes wrong.

If you’re still hoping to get the Pixel features to your Nexus 6P with an OTA update, just stop it. Google is never going to give away Pixel features to Nexus 6P, 5X or any other Nexus phone. But if you’re really keen on it, get the Pixelize app installed on your Nexus 6P to get Pixel features on your Nexus 6P without much hassle. But of course, there isn’t always a pot of gold at the end of rainbow meaning you’ll need your device to be rooted before you can get Pixel features to your device.
