Moto Z and Z Play now available in Kenya

The Moto Z and Moto Z Play modular smartphones have landed on the Kenyan soil along with the Moto Mods. In the country, Moto Z is priced at KES 61,999 while the Moto Z Play can be yours at a cost of KES 48,999.

Enhancing the UX of these smartphones are the Moto Mods, which are modular accessories that snap onto the rear of the two Motorola devices. The Mods which have made their way into Kenya include the JBL SoundBoost speakers which adds two 3W speakers to the back of your phone (Price: KES, 15,000); the Hasselblad True Zoom which enhances the camera (Price: KES 26,000) and power packs from Incipio. Another Mod accessory is the Insta-Share Projector (Price: KES 26,000) which can project your phone display on a 70-inch big screen enabling you to share content.

Coming to the specsheet, Moto Z Play sports aluminum and stainless steel body with 5.5-inch Quad HD Amoled display. Under the hood, it carries 2.15 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage. The phone is equipped with 13 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization and 5MP selfie shooter. It is shipped with 2600mAh Quick Charging battery and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on board. There’s also a fingerprint sensor.

On the other hand, Moto Z Play boasts of a glass panel on the front and back firmly held by a metal frame. It sports 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, 2.0 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB ROM. The camera on board is of 16MP and 5MP resolutions for back and front respectively. The phone runs on the same OS as Moto Z with a powerful 3510mAh battery with Turbocharging.

Significantly, the OS of both the devices have been bumped to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.
