Disable Force Encrypt and Root Moto G4 and G4 Plus on Nougat with Magisk or SuperSU

Motorola is now rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to Moto G4 and G4 Plus users in India. The OTA update is rolling out as we speak and should reach your devices very soon.

If you;re someone like us, you’re probably wondering if the Nougat update on Moto G4 and G4 Plus will be possible to root. Well, good news for you! The current rooting tools fully support Nougat update on Moto devices.

You can choose to root G4 and G4 Plus on Nougat with either Magisk zip or SuperSU. Either way, you’ll need an unlocked bootloader and TWRP recovery installed on your device.

While flashing SuperSU zip from TWRP recovery is the easiest of all methods to get root access on an Android device, the Magisk systemless root is also gaining popularity lately for its ability to disable root on-the-fly without the need of reboot. This is particularly helpful for people who use Android Pay or play Pokemon Go, as it’s by far the most convenient way to bypass SafetyNet checks.

Also, if you want to disable force encrypt on your Moto G4 and G4 Plus, the SuperSU zip and Magisk systemless interface will automatically do that for you. However, you’ll need to format data from TWRP recovery once to decrypt the device if it’s currently encrypted.

Below are links to detailed guide for rooting Android devices with SuperSU zip and Magisk. Follow them carefully and you’ll have root access in no time on your Moto G4 and G4 Plus.
