Moto E Lollipop update release in India is close, enters soak test

Motorola is sending Moto E users an invitation to join for the soak test, which was later confirmed via their twitter handle to be for Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update. If the soak tests start now, or within a day or two, we could expect Motorola to start distributing the Android 5.0 update for Moto E in couple of weeks. You can get the update that’s under testing right now, only if you receive a mail from Motorola for the same, and you decide to join the program.

That’s big news really for Moto E users, and chances are that they will taste the sweet Lollipop before Android One users. Though, it needs mention that it won’t make Motorola Moto E the cheapest device running Android 5.0, as XOLO One has already pipped it to 5.0, way before. If you do receive an invite from Motorola to receive an early preview of its software, which is actually Android 5.0 update, we’d say you give it a try, but know that it;s not stable build you’ll get, and this you may face some issues.

There are may other devices getting the Lollipop treatment, but Moto E users will have sweetest one, as Motorola gets you pure Android UI as made by Google. The likes of Samsung, HTC, LG and nearly all other manufacturers add their custom skin to the Android base version, only to ruin the fun of new Android update.

This is tremendous effort from Motorola, surely an example for all other OEMs, as even HTC is struggling to update its 2013 flagship, the HTC One M7, to Lollipop. Even the likes of Galaxy Note 4 is yet to receive the Android 5.0 update, but it’s a different scenario where the update is under review from the Gear VR team, while ready from Samsung’s side for the rollout.

Moto E Lollipop Update Invite

With the Moto E, nearly all Motorola devices of last year or two will be running Lollipop. The Moto G 1st Gen and 2nd Gen already received the Lollipop update around a week or so before. While, both generations of Moto X have already received the Lollipop update.

In other news, we could soon see a new Moto E, 2nd gen, as it was leaked earlier on the Internet.
