Moto 360 smartwatch based on Android Wear that was launched last year seems to be all set to get a successor. Though the device was considered a first generation Android Wear device in the market, it lost its charm with several other manufacturers coming up with better offerings with solid aluminum builds and impressive designs.

However, there is information that Motorola is working on a Moto 360 sequel as the Lenovo CEO posted an image in the last month showing a new smartwatch in a briefcase. Besides that, there were no further details about the upcoming smartwatch.

Now, a Phandroid report citing information from a tipster claims that a mysterious Motorola build Android Wear based device is in the works. The tipster is likely to have noticed the device pinging his Android developer console from a city called Mundelein close to Illinois where Motorola’s HQ is located.

The report adds on that this upcoming Motorola smartphone in the working is codenamed Smelt and it is likely to run on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device is said to boast of a screen resolution of 360×360 and it is powered by an armeabi-v7a.

The codename of Smelt for the upcoming Motorola smartwatch makes sense as its predecessor had the codename Minnow. If the device is the same that was revealed by the Lenovo CEO, we can say that the Moto 360 successor will be luxurious and more premium.
