Micromax Yureka announced, runs on Cyanogen OS 11 and costs less than $150

Micromax Yureka

The Micromax Cyanogen phone that we’ve been hearing quite much from the last few weeks has been made official by Micromax today at an press event today in New Delhi, India. The phone goes by the name Yureka and runs on Cyanogen OS 11.

The Micromax Yureka sports a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM and 2500 mAh battery. And camera on the phone is 13MP on the back and 5MP on front. The device has expandable storage options with support upto 32GB and it comes with an internal storage of 16GB. As for the display, you get a 5.5 inch HD 720p IPS display with Corning Gorilla glass 3. The device also supports dual SIM (GSM + GSM).

The specs of Yureka are quite impressing, and the fact that it runs on Cyanogen OS should make it lag free as well. But still, the most impressing thing about Yureka is its price — only INR 8,999 (under $150). With official Cyanogen team on-board with this device, we can be at peace regarding software updates to the device. Using a Cyanogen OS device is an experience similar to using Nexus devices, but only better.

Yureka is the first device of the Yu series by Micromax and this series will exclusively only run on Cyanogen OS. Micromax will be releasing more devices under the Yu series in 2015 aimed at younger generation of the country.

The Micromax Yureka will be sold exclusively at Amazon India and the bookings shall start as soon as tomorrow (19th Dec.). Head over to the link below for more details.
