MetroPCS Galaxy S3 gets Google Wallet support, becomes carrier’s first to do so

If you’re a MetroPCS user and just picked up a Samsung Galaxy S3 yesterday upon launch, then it might be one of the better decisions you’ve taken as far as selecting the right phone goes. MetroPCS is now one of the select carriers in the US which has Google Wallet, and the Galaxy S3 is MetroPCS’ first phone to support it. Lucky You!

Google wallet is an app which allows you to store your credit cards digitally, so that you don’t have to carry them around everywhere,  and lets you use your phone itself as a shopping tool. Google wallet supports Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and/or Discover card. Google claims that your data will be secure and only accessible via a PIN so in case you misplace or lose your phone, you can be assured that your data would still be secure.

With the impending merger of MetroPCS and T-Mobile next year, and T-Mobile already committed to Isis, Google Wallet’s competitor in the digital payment solutions space, it would be interesting to see how things pan out for T-Mobile. For now, Galaxy S3 users can  download Google wallet from the Play Store and begin making purchases directly from their handsets.
