Meizu MX7 and PRO7 specsheet to include Snapdragon 835 processor

Meizu has shown dedicated love for MediaTek’s Helio chipset for long time now, but it seems this is going to change with the entry of Snapdragon 835 processor in the market.

The latest tidbits out of China reveal that the company is looking to power its 2017 flagship Android devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and thus may not feature MediaTek’s Helio X30 processor, SD835’s competitor chip, one that uses the same 10nm tech that SD835 is based on.

For its 2015 and 2016 flagships, Meizu featured MediaTek’s Helio chips — Helio X10 and X20, respectively — while relying on the Exynos processor from Samsung for the PRO5. That is to say Meizu MX5, MX6, Pro 6, Pro 6S and Pro 6 Plus, all used Helio chips to keep the show running.

Snapdragon 835 processor is already in so much demand that we may see several smartphones gets the launch delayed until its availability becomes certain. Xiaomi Mi6 could launch as youth edition, featuring Helio Helio X30, while, when SD835 becomes available, Xiaomi could launch the standard edition with it, apart from the premium edition, which would also feature SD835 processor along with ceramic body.

Even HTC is said to be considering delaying its HTC 11 until Snapdragon 835 processor becomes available.

It’s being reported that Samsung has reserved all initial supplies of Snapdragon 835 processor for its Galaxy S8 and S8 plus, which is the main cause of SD835 processor’s shortage in the market. FYI, Qualcomm is producing the SD835 chips with Samsung’s help.

If you are a Meizu fan, how does that sound to you that Meizu has finally decided to use the Qualcomm’s best processor for its MX7 and Pro 7? BTW, this also means that we would see Meizu MX7 and Meizu Pro 7 launch only when SD835 becomes available, but then again, Meizu is used to launching its flagships sets later only in June-July of the year, by which time, SD835 should be available easily.
