Maluuba Android app is your alternative to Google Now, Samsung’s S Voice and Apple’s Siri

Maluuba, a new voice-activated personal assistant app, is trying to give Apple’s Siri and Google Now a run for their money by combining slick natural language processing with a wide array of services.

Maluuba takes the best of both Siri and Google Now, and combines it into what it calls a do engine. Maluuba allows the use of natural language commands to ask questions and create tasks. Maluuba doesn’t respond with its own voice like Siri, but it makes up for that by connecting to 18 different services for answers and actions. Maluuba helps you schedule appointments, set reminders, search for local businesses and restaurants, check the weather, discover concerts and entertainment events happening, and much more!

Quoting PCMAG’s feedback:

“Even though Siri is still in beta and hasn’t quite reached it’s full potential (or lived up to our expectations), developers have scrambled to devise their own versions of a virtual assistant for smartphones. I’ve tried several of the Siri-like offerings and Maluuba for Android is the most robust i’ve seen.”

Maluuba officially launched last week and is now rolling out a minor update that features a widget, so users can start queries from their home screen to use the service faster without having to fire up the app.
