LG will soon release LG Pay globally

The mobile payment service is new touting feature for OEMs. Last month, LG launched its mobile payment service, LG Pay in its hometown South Korea.

After Samsung and Google, LG is the third Android OEM to launch its own payment service. The service was initially available on the flagship device, LG G6 only, but the two new variants of LG G6 – LG G6+ and LG G6 32GB, which were launched just a few days back in South Korea, arrived with LG Pay.

So, currently, three devices support LG Pay and the service is available only in South Korea. However, Cho Jun-ho, the president of LG’s mobile communications division has said that LG will soon release LG Pay globally in other markets as well.

Further, the service will be adopted on other devices as well. In case you are wondering, even the budget models will get LG Pay, however, they would have to wait until first quarter next year.

Interestingly, LG’s competitor, Samsung recently launched a mid-budget device, J7 Pro, which comes with full support for Samsung Pay in India.

For the unaware, LG Pay allows you to make payments by just touching your smartphone to regular credit card devices. LG Pay uses Wireless Magnetic Communication (WMC) technology while Samsung Pay Magnetic Security Transmission (MST).
