LG Optimus Nexus is real, confirms the first hands-on report

Rumors are coming in day and night for the next Nexus phone, which is reportedly going to be a LG branded Optimus Nexus. And at this pace we all can pretty much guess that the launch of next Nexus phone is near. And for sure the device is real.

A tipster has provided Android And Me with his hand-on experience with LG Optimus Nexus. Yes one real hands-on with the next Nexus. Though there’s no Video or anything for the absolute confirmation, the tipster has said a lot about the design of the Optimus Nexus and a little about Android 4.2 too. Quated below is the first hands-on report:

“I can confirm the next nexus is LG Optimus based. The phone looks surprisingly like the Galaxy Nexus and does not have sharp corners like the LG Optimus we already know. It has a silver’ring like the iPhone 3G around the outer edge of the screen which seemed to be similar to the Galaxy Nexus in size but was much better in brightness.

I couldn’t have said if it was larger in the few minutes that I had the phone. Also, it has Nexus written on the back like the Nexus 7 except there is a color element to it. The ‘X’ is in four colors. There was also the LG logo on the back.

Android 4.2 in its current state looked exactly like the 4.1.1 we love. There were no tabs on that build version for home-screens as you suggested from your other tipster. What I was amazed by is how fluid everything seemed to be from exiting apps, switching, etc. It seems like they’ve increased the number of transitions and their types. It still had the hodge-podge mess of multiple communication tools: Messenger, GTalk, Voice and SMS.”

The tipster also sent a sample picture taken by the LG Optimus Nexus but Android And Me hasn’t shared it because of the nature of the picture. But after pulling the EXIF data of the picture, it turned out to be picture taken with a 8 MegaPixel camera. It can be right since the LG Optimus G comes in both 8MP and 13MP variant. Also Google must have tried their best to keep the minimize the cost of the phone as much as possible and yet give a wonderful experience, the Nexus 7 is the best example to prove that. Plus the tipster has also said that he was amazed bu the fluid experience on the phone.

Now this also confirms the report that come earlier today that the next Nexus will be called LG Optimus G Nexus and will be launched next month along with Android 4.2. It was also reported that Google is working on a whole new Nexus program to give almost any manufacturer a chance to make a Nexus device. In the new revised program manufactureres will have to adhere to several standards (say Nexus standards) for the device to be included in the program like use of Stock Android and 64MB of secure memory for media streaming and some more standards not known yet.

We’re hoping this first hands-on experience and the rumors to be true. Also the rumors are supporting a very strong point — Samsung alone is not going to get the Nexus charm every year, other manufacturers were bound to make a Nexus. And that was proved too when Google joined hands with Asus for making the first Nexus tablet.

Actually, Google managed the whole Nexus program very well. Samsung was making the best android smartphones and they also had a very good in-house hardware production so they chose them for the Nexus phone brand, both the Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus were wonderful phones. And on the Android tablet market only Asus was dominating and competing with the iPad. The Amazon’s Kindle Fire was selling hot for the $200 price tag. And 7-inch was a good opportunity, low price and better portability are the key consumer selling points for the 7-inch tablets. So Google teamed up with Asus and launched a 7-inch tablet with top-notch hardware and price as low as $200. It proved a win.
