LG Nexus 4 battery can be removed?

The LG Nexus 4 sports a 2100 mAh battery inside, which was met with criticism from many for being non-removable. However, the folks over at the XDA forums took a good look at the insides of the Nexus 4, and found that the battery is indeed removable, even though it does require a bit of careful tinkering.

The battery is bolted on to the device with the help of screws, and while it is possible to remove them, the plastic tabs on the edges can break if done improperly, which can cause signal quality issues as there is a possibility of the antenna breaking from its contacts. However, it is still good to hear that with the right tools and a little precision, the battery can be removed if needed.

Hopefully Google will move back to removable batteries on their next Nexus device. For now, make sure to keep a screw driver ready if you’re thinking of opening up your Nexus 4.
