LG infographic explains why bezel-less smartphones are better

Smartphones with near bezel-less display are all the rage right now. High-end smartphone vendors like Samsung and LG have already done it with their Galaxy S8 and G6 handsets.

And, Apple and Google are expected to jump onto the bandwagon with their next outings.

So, why is the bezel-less display suddenly a norm among flagship handsets? Well, this LG infographic explains it all.

According to an IDC report, the “shipments of smartphones with displays greater than 5.5-inches will surpass smartphones with smaller displays in 2018 in large part because consumers are sharing and consuming more multimedia content on handheld devices.

“This trend is influenced by phones with minimal bezels (bezel-less), which allows for larger displays without making the phone feel large,” the report adds.

A survey of 1000 adults (born between 1980 – 1990) conducted in between June 16 and June 22, 2017, across the USA, Brazil, France, Germany, Mexico, and the UK by dataSpring revealed that nearly 69.7% of the people find a near bezel-less smartphone attractive.

2.7% of the people said that they don’t need a bezel-less smartphone with 26.9%, people, not sure if they need one or not.

When asked about some of the reasons that would drive them to purchase a bezel-less smartphone. A whopping 88.9% replied better video watching experience, while 78.4% and 75.8% said social media and mobile banking respectively.

Also, the infographic reveals that more than half of the people involved in the survey would want a bigger smartphone screen, but 63.7% of them also want it to fit in one hand — which is possible with the bezel-less smartphone.

Most of the users revealed that phones with small displays lead to various issues like touching wrong icons while watching a video or playing games, clicking on ads accidentally, full images won’t fit on the screen, the presence of limited data on the screen, and inconvenience during photo and video edits.
