In an era of sustainable development, LG and Samsung have earned some brownie points by receiving ECOLOGO certification for their flagship products. LG G6 and Galaxy S8 have been certified for being environmental friendly and have won the Gold rating from the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), Â approved by the Green Electronics Council and Underwriters Laboratories.
The new mobile phone category for EPEAT was launched by the Green Electronics Council yesterday only. And LG G6 and Galaxy S8 are the first smartphones to receive the certification.
The certification is awarded based on various environmental aspects of products and evaluates a mobile phone’s compliance with stringent environmental performance criteria. The use of toxic materials and energy efficiency of a mobile phone is taken into account during evaluation.

Commenting on the feat, Samsung said the Galaxy S8 smartphones received eulogies for utilizing recycled materials for earphone cases and their high power efficiency.
