LG promised us the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for LG G4 last week, and the Korean manufacturer did deliver their word by putting the KDZ firmware file of the Marshmallow update live for everyone’s downloading pleasure.

However, as is the case with all major Android updates, installing the Marshmallow KDZ firmware will break root access on your LG G4.

We don’t know the complete technicality yet about the process of getting root back on the G4 Marshmallow update, but as of today (24th Oct.), we don’t have any working root for the G4 Marshmallow firmware version 20A.

There’s nothing to be scared of though if you’ve already updated your G4 to Android 6.0. We’re hopeful that the previous G4 root trick that we used on Lollipop firmwares would still work on the Marshmallow release.

And in case the previous root trick doesn’t work, then the holy folks over at xda would still find a way to get root on G4 running the Android 6.0 based 20A firmware.

If root is something you can’t live without even for a day, then we wouldn’t recommend you to update your G4 to Marshmallow before a working root method is available.

We’ll keep this page with LG G4 Marshmallow root related info, you may want to bookmark this page.
