Looks like Full HD 1080p displays are rapidly becoming the flavor of the season. With HTC’s Droid DNA already gearing up for a November 21st release, and Sony and Samsung reportedly working on 1080p devices of their own, it’s no surprise that every OEM worth its salt wants to have a piece of the FullHD pie.
A new GLBenchmark listing seems to indicate that LG may have its own 1080p smartphone in the works. Benchmarks for a new phone called the LG F240K have appeared, and if the the build quality of the recently released Nexus 4 are anything to go on, this is going to be one helluva smartphone. Model numbering seems to suggest that this could be for LG’s home-market – Korea.
While GLBenchmark listings may not necessarily mean an imminent release, going by what we’ve seen in the past, it is usually a fair indication that something is in the works and is being tested. And with the current frenzy around 1080p phones, there is no reason to believe that LG wouldn’t want to put one of their own out there.
The benchmark result doesn’t tell us anything about the size of the display, but we suspect that it will at least 5 inches. The device seems to be running Android 4.1, which seems to have become the de facto standard for all of the Full HD devices that have been cropping up in benchmark listings in the recent past.
No official word from LG yet, though when the time is right, we expect LG would want to make a big announcement. Next big thing, anyone?
