Leaked images show LG G6 mini with 5.4-inch display

Rumors about a mini version of LG G6 are flying. A recent leak has emerged suggesting that LG is prepping to launch a smaller variant of its flagship smartphone G6 with 5.4-inch display.

Dubbed as LG G6 mini (which obviously isn’t the official name), the smaller model will come with a screen-to-body ratio just under 80 percent while maintaining the 18:9 aspect ratio inherent in LG G6, the leaked report says.

It definitely might be a good idea to launch two variants of a flagship phone, which Samsung and Apple usually adhere to. But whether the LG G6 Mini will carry downgraded hardware or the same high-end specsheet as that seen on LG G6 is unclear as of now. But what stands to be the deciding factor in the the mini G6 variant’s road to success is the price tag LG will attach to it.

If LG decides to retain the G6 hardware in the mini version, in all likelihood the LG G6 pricing will be retained even for the 5.4-inch G6, which might not be a wise take. However, launching another variant of G6 with watered down specs and comparatively a lesser price might trigger the interest of many users in love with smaller display.

However, the entire report about LG working on a mini version of G6 with 5.4 inch display has been revealed by TechnoBuffalo courtesy an internal document provided to them by a trusted source. As LG has not yet given its official stamp to the LG G6 mini, it is advisable to take the news with a grain of salt.

  1. 2017 where a 5.4 inch display is “Mini” XD .Maybe name it the G6- ?(bad one..I know…).Jokes aside ,LG seems to be doing all it can to beat the S8 starting from their amazing offers to now releasing a slightly nerfed display ( and hardware ?).It would only be logical if the price is lower than the G6 by atleast a 100$ otherwise people would simply choose the bigger screen 😀

    1. Lol exactly. Remember when Samsung launched their note series with 5″ and people told it was huuuge?

    2. I remember when the canvas was out and the s5’s .They were too big to fit in pockets XD

    3. Lol true 😀

  2. Wow!! a tiny version of the eye-catchy LG G6 without sacrificing any cool features at all. that’s great, it kinda reminds of iPhone SE with all the iPhone 6s goodness in small footprint, surely the people who r always in search of handy and powerful phones in this phablet era of smartphones will enjoy this phone a lot coz it will bring the otherwise phablet screen of 5.4″ in a footprint of a phone like iPhone7 with 4.7″ screen, I say great decision from LG, I just hope this will come true sooner and costs at least 100-150$ less than the G6!!

    1. I really loved the SE. People didn’t go for it and went for the overpriced iPhone 6 instead though. :/

  3. LG G4 mini wasn’t really good and I really hope this wont be that case. Glad to see this variant also come with a fullvision display. Although 5.4 inches might seem a lot, remember the bezels are going to be mostly non-existent and hence the phone’s form factor will indeed be very small.
I am curious to see what direction they are going to take this. They might reduce to the size and battery and keep rest of the spec sheet the same, maintaining the phone’s power and appeal to the people who want a great top of the line phone with bleeding edge technology and a smaller screen size than the G6. Or they might downgrade the processor and RAM along with the screen size and thus bring the cost down and appeal to customer looking to buy a phone with bezel less display for a lesser price. I ma curious to see which path they take.

    1. They’ll most likely nerf the battery as the display size is smaller.Ram ..they might not ,sure about that but its really interesting to see a cheaper variant targeted at the people eyeing the S8.

    2. Yeah, I am very curious what they do with the processor too. 🙂

    3. Processor most likely might be the same ,I guess.

    4. If that is the case, the price wont go down by a lot. If they wish to reduce price, they will most likely downgrade the processor too. Lets see 😛

    5. Well price wise there’s a lot of things they Can downgrade but the processor already being beat by the s8 downgrading the processor to a weaker one will not be that bright an idea

    6. You are right. They probably might focus on saving with the camera. Single camera instead of a dual one and what not.

    7. Exactly 😉

    8. Its a fine line. They shouldn’t overdo it either or barely downgrade at all. There is a narrow middle ground where they can get it right.

    9. Simply put it should be a slightly cheaper variant of the G6 for the people who can’t afford it’s elder brother.

    10. Or it can be a smaller, not so cheaper variant for people who want smaller form factor

    11. Like I eaid earlier ,I have a feeling they’re doing this just to provide a cheaper alternative to the S8 so they’re hopefully doing that..

    12. G6 is already cheaper. They can go for something like a heterodyne, but not too cheap, something more like the Oneplus 3t range, tweaking the display panel and all and as you said, keeping the processor and RAM intact, and we are good. Nexus 5 was one of their best selling smartphones after all.

    13. Umm not sure what a heterodyne is ,could you fill me in about that? They might not make it as cheap as the one plus as they will still be seeking a premium. It’s only smart if they offer it aroud 45k as it’s not too cheap and has enough price difference for people to choose it over the G6 or even the S8 (maybe) for that matter

    14. Oh, a heterodyne is when one or more larger(frequencies in a radio) mix up to form a smaller one. I am not saying exactly 30k, anything till 36k is a pretty decent range, and that will offer the added benefit of people with less budget going for something better. At 45k, it will more or less be equivalent to the G6. Why would they buy the mini then? For the smaller screen, and as is possible, a drop in specs? I don’t think so.

    15. I mean that price if they only reduce the screen and battery(like the s8 ans plus) but yeah you’re right even in that case it’ll be around 40k and if they downgrade other things also then it’d be below the 40k mark and compete with the mi6 ? After all it does have a much better display and most importantly ….wait for it …………. A jack 😛

    16. I am sure we will soon hear more about it.

    17. Just a matter of time 🙂

  7. This will sell really well, if they pit it within the $500 range, without killing the specifications too much. Lg can do that, no doubt. Waiting to see, how this goes. 🙂
