HTC is looking to differentiate — and it’s pulling all stops to do that it seems. In the latest video leaked by Evan Blass, HTC is shown working out a way to find an answer to how could they differentiate their phone from the crowded mobile phone space of ‘similar’ products.
Result of which is basically HTC customizing the back of its device to never-seen-levels, what with gradients, drops, etc. all forming part of the designs shown in the video, to match the dress color of a person, for one. But that’s not all, the device doesn’t feature any buttons either at all, at least on the sides as we didn’t get the front view of the device.
Even though there is no mention of HTC 11, or next HTC 2017, we assume all this back-to-drawing-board stuff is for a major release, which has to be HTC 11, unless they are going to name it after long-rumored moniker, Ocean, which is why Evan Blass didn’t call it HTC 11 either, rather opting for HTC 2017.

If that’s the case, we could see HTC end the One series with the 10, and begin the Ocean series from 2017, which was always expected to not feature volume and power buttons on the sides — as the idea is to interact with the device using swipe gesture around the device’s sides.
This HTC 2017 would feature three types of back, classified as Chemical, Super Fibers and Litmus. These are the kind of dyes HTC has labeled suitably, as per looks each would would give you.
